Support to the ONE Billion Hungry Project: Sign the Petition to End Hunger
FAO estimates that 1.02 billion people are undernourished worldwide in 2009. These are hungry people than at any time since 1970, the earliest year for which compatible statistics are available. Hunger has increased not as a result of poor harvest, but because of high domestic food prices, lower income and increasing unemployment due to the global economic crisis. On July 20th 2010 the National Sub-committee for Food Fortification and RACHA will convene a workshop, Considering a National MultiSectoral Plan to Launch Iron Fortified Fish Sauce and Soy Sauce to Reduce Anemia at the Intercontinental Hotel. Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) is a significant human and economic burden in Cambodia. Iron fortified fish and soy sauce offers an affordable, sustainable and effective approach to reducing this burden – saving lives and improving productivity.
