Rice Situation in ASEAN |

The final paddy production estimate in ASEAN for 2009 (2008/09 crop year) was 196.35 million tons up 5.52 million tons or 2.89 percent from previous year (Table 1, Figure 1). The present estimate has been revised upward from 195.49 million tons from December 2009 Agricultural Commodity Outlook Report. The growth in production is attributed to the increase in both area and yield. Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei have revised their estimates upward while the Philippines and Vietnam have revised their estimates downward. For other countries, the estimates remained unchanged. |
