The National Focal Point
(NFP)
The role of the NFP for FIVIMS includes:
- To co-operate with the Global FIVIMS effort.
- To work closely with top decision makers of all
sectors in the country.
- To give proper directions and guidance to the
TSC.
- To supervise daily activities of the FIVIMS Secretariat
and the Core Analyst Group engaged in data collection,
analysis, interpretation, preparation of reports,
dissemination of FIVIMS information and reports,
and development of strategies and plans.
- To facilitate all kind of FIVIMS activities to
meet the established goals.
- To establish a FIVIMS network and maintain coordination
with governmental institutions, international agencies
and NGOs engaged in FIVIMS related activities and
initiatives.
- To seek new funds and resources as appropriate
for sustaining the FIVIMS operations.
The Inter-Ministerial
Steering Commitee (IMSC)
The role and responsibilities of the IMSC are:
- To provide technical recommendations and guidance
pertaining to the procedures and strategies for
implemeting FIVIMS in relation to government policy,
national programs and projects.
- To play a key role in solving any critical problems
that arise from FIVIMS implementation.
- To work as a coordination commitee to coordinate
all matters and issues relevant to FIVIMS with all
involved line ministries and top decision makers
in order to make FIVIMS sucessful.
- To review, approve and endorse all FIVIMS documents
and reports submitted by the TSC.
- To overse the progress of FIVIMS.
- To review and endorse activity proposals and
substantive recommendations submitted by the TSC.
- To seek new funds and resources as appropriate
fro sustaining the FIVIMS operations.
- To call and organize meetings of the TSC in response
to needs raised by the FIVIMS Secretariat.
The Technical Sub-Committee
(TSC)
- To prepare short and long term work plans and
submit them to the NFP and the IMSC for reveal and
approval.
- To identify and update appropriate indicators
for FIVIMS analysis.
- To develope appropriate strategies for effective
data and information collection management, analysis
and dissemination.
- To provide support to the FIVIMS Network as appropriate.
- To coordinate with all stakeholders in carrying
out various activities related to FIVIMS, particularly
with the GSCSD and the NCN.
- To develope and improve report formats for the
System users at al level.
- To conduct users' need assessments.
- To review and approve the draft reports submitted
by the Core Analyst Group and to submit them to
the IMSC for review and endorsement.
- To follow up emergencies caused by natural disasters
and alert the Network and the civil society about
risks of food insecurity, and to provide information
and analytical products that facilitate emergency
relief operations and targeted interventions.
- In collaboration with the Core Analyst Group,
to maintain, update and disseminate FIVIMS Data
and Information on a regular basis for use by the
Netwrok and other System users.
- To regularly report FIVIMS matters and issues
to the NFP.
- To monitor and evaluate the FIVIMS progress on
a regular basis.
- To perform other related tasks.
The Core Analyst Group
The Core Analyst Group members are usually seconded
from the TSC who have strong background relevant to
FIVIMS such as data gathering and management, statistical
analysis and mapping in food insecurity and vulnerability.
The roles of this group include:
- Collecting and mapping all kind of data related
to FIVIMS, and analyzing and interpreting them by
utilising appropriate statistical analysis techniques
as well as mapping and image processing technologies.
- Developing procedures to collect, maintain and
disessminate FIVIMS information and data.
- Producing timely and accurate information on
food insecurity and vulnerability.
- Preparing and submitting the result of analysis
and draft reports to the TSC and the IMSC for review
and endorsement.
