Cambodia FSN Statistics
Relevant data and statistics on food security and nutrition in Cambodia are
currently dependent on large national surveys conducted on a three to five-year
basis. Regularly updated information is therefore not currently available,
although a number of Line Ministries and stakeholders may collect data specific
to their target areas. Examples include the monthly rice price data from
selected provinces and the annual crop cutting survey, both conducted by the
Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).
The key sources for food security and nutrition-related data in Cambodia are
the Cambodia Demographic and Health Survey (2000), the Cambodia National
Micronutrient Survey (Helen Keller International, 2000), the Cambodia
Socio-Economic Survey (1999) and the Cambodia Socio-Economic Survey (2003-2004:
available as of 2005). Most of these surveys can be obtained from the National
Institute of Statistics (NIS): www.nis.gov.kh.
Data from these surveys can also be found in CamInfo,
a national indicator database recently developed by the NIS, which incorporates
indicators from global, regional and national goals as well as monitoring
frameworks.
During 2003, key relevant indicators were identified and included (for
nutrition) in the Cambodia Nutrition Investment Plan (CNIP)
2003-2007, and (for food insecurity and vulnerability) in the Food Insecurity
and Vulnerability Information and Mapping System (FIVIMS).
These, again, can also be found in CamInfo.

Poverty & Vulnerability Analysis Maps
The World Food Programme, in collaboration with a number of government
ministries and other partners, has carried out detailed analysis of indicators
of factors contributing to poverty and making communities vulnerable in
Cambodia, and has presented these factors in a series of maps for the whole of
Cambodia, down to local level.

Landmine and Unexploded Ordnance Maps
Landmines and unexploded ordnance are a major problem in Cambodia contributing
to food insecurity and malnutrition. They deny Cambodians access to
agricultural land and other natural resources, hinder movement and
communication, and cause injury and death which affect the ability of families
to support themselves and maintain a livelihood.
Maps of mined areas and maps of unexploded ordnance (UXO) locations have been
produced by the Cambodian Mine Action Authority. These are available on the
Community Information Web Portal, at the following addresses:
